About Us
The Resource Center for Women and Girls (RCWG) is an NGO organization based in Machakos County, Kenya, and works with young rural and rural-urban girls and women from all parts of the country. The RCWG uses their prestigious empowerment and mentoring camps as a tool to promote personal transformation and empowerment among these girls.
Our aim is to facilitate the development of the knowledge-base, so that young girls are better prepared to be not only agents of change in their communities, but also to participate in transformative leadership and the development of Kenya and of the African continent as a whole.
The organization was formed in 2007 with a successful pilot program in the Eastern part of Kenya and thereafter expanded to other regions in Kenya
Not investing in girls is in fact as good as planning poverty, so our program seeks to give girls skills and information that decrease their economic, political, health and social vulnerabilities. By investing in the group most affected by persistent development challenges, we break negative cycles of poverty, HIV/AIDS, early marriages and loss of income, which is valued at billions of US$ (Ref. UN Women).
We want to transform our rural communities so that girls are afforded equal opportunities to learn, stay healthy and be agents of change
OUR MISSION
To facilitate personal growth and increase the knowledge base and awareness of girls, so they can be part of a critical mass of young Kenyan women able to make informed choices about their lives, and join a new generation of female leaders and be agents of transformative change in their communities
VISION
Informed and competent young women and girls who achieve personal growth and bring about transformative change
