The Resource Center for Women and Girls work with consultants from the feminist networks, where we train and mentor young girls to develop awareness about themselves, and become potential key players in facilitating transformative change.
Dr. Fatmah Abdallah Faculty of Medicine, University of Nairobi,
Dr. Abdallah’s research has been published in several scientific journals and presented at both local and international conferences. She has held executive posts with professional societies and edits articles for the East African Medical Journal. She is currently a member of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and previously served, for ten years, as a member of the Regional Committee of East Africa, for the Madrasa Program( an early childhood development program in resource-challenged communities of the region).
Catherine Ngaracu-Mutua
Reach to Recovery
She is married and a mother of one beautiful daughter. She is a breast cancer survivor and is a trained Reach to Recovery volunteer which is a network of individuals, groups and organizations committed to improving the quality of life for women with breast cancer and their families through peer support, advocacy and consumer involvement in research.
She is involved in giving peer support to women who have been newly diagnosed with breast cancer and their families on a voluntary basis. She is also involved in advocacy by teaching women how to do Breast Self-Examinations, and the risk factors.
Aquilinah Kalunde Deputy Principal Kakuyuni secondary
She is a high school teacher and deputy principal in Kakuyuni secondary school, Machakos County. She teaches English and Kiswahili languages. She writes plays, poems and directs them. She has awards in drama and music at national levels, the latest award being the award of the most original play in 2012. She is the founder of a club known as Orphans and Vulnerable children which raises fees, gives hope and infuses skills of self-reliance and independence in these students. She is a lover of the environment and takes care of it through keeping nurseries which enable her to plant a wide range of trees. She is in charge of the environment in the school she works in.
Petronilla Wesonga
Nurse by Profession
Nurse by profession who is currently working with Airtel, a multinational telecommunications company based in Kenya as a customer care executive and at Bristol park hospital on locum basis. She has been affiliated with the Resource Center for 6 years now as a guardian of one of our alumni, and then she was recruited to serve as a board member. She is passionate about mentoring young girls to realize their dreams. She is an active board member who is committed to steering the organization to achieve its mission and vision through empowerment of young girls.
Susan Mbithe
Clinical officer
Born in Machakos County. Susan attended Machakos girl’s high school and later joined Kenya Medical training College. She is currently a clinical officer intern at Kakamega provincial General hospital. Besides having a diploma in clinical medicine and surgery, Susan has attained several certificates of active participation in the prestigious mentoring and empowerment camps with the Resource Center for Women and Girls. Susan also attained a certificate of participation in hunger walk with Brookside Company.
