Oral Herstory and Archives

Although Women are the recognised carriers of culture, many of our deeds, successes and gains tend to remain unrecorded or unrecognised because we very often do not own the process or resources that ensure our stories are told. Indeed, a wise woman once said: “Until the lioness can tell her own story, the tale of the hunt will always glorify the hunter”.

To ensure that we document our stories, told from our experience and our perspectives, the RCWG launched an Oral herstory project in 2007. Since then we have been collecting various stories, testimonies, interviews of Sheroes, stories and essays written by all the Alumni and mentors and documenting them with the aim of publishing a series. This project is also supported by photographic essays and archives.
